Our History

Tim Jozefow grew up immersed in the craft of carpentry. His father owned his own contracting company and as soon as Tim was old enough to put on a tool belt he was learning all about the hard work and dedication it takes to turn out a beautiful product. From learning expert building skills from his father’s talented contractors, to the critical managing skills his father taught him, Tim not only grew in experience but in the confidence it takes to build a successful company.

These earliest impressions are the framework for St. Croix Carpentry and serve as the standard by which every project is completed.

At St. Croix Carpentry, attention to detail is everything. From the beginning of the process until the very end, our team of craftsmen work tirelessly to make sure that your experience is a positive one.

Taking great pride in staying up to date on all the latest building products entering the market as well as best practices for installation to ensure your home performs to it’s full potential.

Tim Jozefow
Owner

Tim Jozefow is as good with a hammer and saw as he is with people—that’s why he splits his time between sales and fine carpentry. A laid-back but straight-arrow guy, Tim was born into construction and it stuck. He’s found success in his 17 years on the job site through the Carpenter’s Golden Rule: “Don’t do anything to someone else’s house I wouldn’t be willing to do to my own.” Happily married with four children, Tim loves to play hockey, travel the world, and watch “the old Sherlock Holmes movies with Basil Rathbone.”

Our Process

Communication is key to successful working relationships with both our colleagues and customers. Nobody likes unpleasant surprises. That is why our goal is to complete every project on time and within budget. We do everything within our power to move each project along as smoothly as possible. Your satisfaction is our top priority from the minute we step into your home; to the day we put the finishing touches on your dream renovation.

Our process consists of four distinct phases to ensure everyone involved understands exactly what is taking place throughout the process:

Phase 01

We first meet the client at their home with the architect and/or interior designer. We jump right in, review the concept designs and discuss possible finishes and budget. If the concept hasn’t been flushed out, we listen to the client, architect and/or interior designer explain the project goal and scope. If the client hasn’t hired an architect or designer and the project warrants it, we will make a referral. Some clients are comfortable making key project decisions. In those cases, we personally guide them through the process. During the walk-through, we take the entire home into consideration, from the style and architecture right down to the mechanics and utilities. We identify any potential issues and areas that may not be up-to-code. We take photos of the interior and exterior, paying special attention to the area(s) to be remodeled.

Phase 02

After the design parameters are defined and finishes have been established, our remodeling team meets in the home to craft a game plan and an accurate project estimate. A final construction contract outlines the total cost and payment terms. The contract includes detailed project specifications, outlining exactly what we’re doing as well as the materials and the finishes we’ll install. We also include detailed construction drawings and, upon request, color copies can be provided so you can visualize the end result.  Thanks to years of remodeling experience and technical knowledge, our team knows how to create the owner’s vision for their home in the best and most efficient way possible.

Phase 03

Most homeowners are living in their homes during construction. Our project manager arranges a pre-construction meeting to discuss your house rules, working hours, communication preferences and even where the dumpster will be located. Throughout the project, our staff is courteous, conscientious and respectful. We’ve even set up temporary kitchens, bathrooms and laundry areas when needed. We maintain the safest and cleanest possible work environments throughout construction, from the moment we first step into your home all the way through to the final inspection.

Phase 04

Everyone who’s lived through a home remodel is eager to begin living in his or her new space. When construction is nearly done, we’ll schedule a time to create an in-depth ‘punch list’ with you. Our Craftsmen will meticulously complete this list of minor items and check them off one by one. When the punch list is completed, our house cleaners will professionally clean the newly finished spaces. The final step will occur when Tim Jozefow personally conducts a final walk-through to ensure your complete satisfaction with the project.
